Meet both Bobs

Bob & Bob have always been fascinated by the world of motorised two wheelers. Years of accumulated passion and expertise moved them — almost as a matter of conviction — to start Bob’s Bike Shop. Now you get to reap the rewards of that expertise, whether you put your motorcycle in these capable hands or would rather learn to work on it yourself with their help.

Bob van Huijstee

Owner / Tech Lead

Bob van Huijstee

Bob’s lifelong passion is riding — and he means it. Not a hobby squeezed in now and then, but the thread the rest of his life has arranged itself around.

Alongside running Bob’s Bike Shop as co-owner, this giant from Alkmaar has thoroughly caught the travelling bug on two wheels. The love for it runs deep enough that he can regularly be found guiding tours across the globe. For that, Bob happily leaves the tarmac behind: it is the off-road riding, and sharing that pleasure with others, that he does it for.

Bob may be enormously tall — but he has a very soft heart.

Those miles come back into the workshop. Anyone who has pushed a bike over a mountain pass or down a gravel road knows what breaks and why — and knows which repair gets you home and which one can wait. The expertise built up over the years, and the creativity Bob is known for, have earned him a real name as a mechanic.

Come in with a question about a trip, a modification, or a fault nobody else can find, and chances are you will end up with Bob — and stay talking longer than you planned.

Bob Twigt

Owner / Mechanic

Bob Twigt

For Bob Twigt it started at home. Motorcycle engineering was handed to him with his mother’s milk, above all by his father — a fanatical rider and spanner-wielder himself.

It was never really a decision, more an inevitability. If you cannot leave a moped alone at twelve, you rarely get free of it later.

You might know the feeling: you are twelve years old and far too curious not to take apart the moped standing in front of you. The bug had me properly by then. Motorcycle engineering — that was simply it for me.Bob Twigt

Before the shop existed, Bob built a career in the technical sector. A good bag of experience, as he puts it himself: learning how to take a problem apart systematically, how to work cleanly under time pressure, and how to explain what you are doing to someone who is not up to their elbows in it every day.

A few years ago he took that and ran with it, turning his passion into his profession: being a mechanic became more than just something he loved. Now his hands are on and in our own shop — and you notice it in how he approaches a job: calm, precise, and not satisfied until it is right.
