Privacy statement

Bob’s Bike Shop takes your privacy seriously. This statement explains what data we process, why we do so, and what rights you have.

Who we are

Bob’s Bike Shop, at Akerdijk 117b, 1175 LK Lijnden, the Netherlands, is the controller for the personal data described in this statement. You can reach us on +31 20 410 1234 or at bob@bobsbikeshop.eu.

What data we process

We process your personal data because you use our services and/or because you provide it to us yourself. Specifically:

  • First and last name
  • Address details
  • Phone number
  • Email address
  • Details of your vehicle (make, model, registration, work carried out)
  • Payment details, including bank details

Why we need it

  • To handle your payment
  • To call or email you where that is necessary to carry out our services
  • To inform you about changes to our services
  • To deliver goods and services
  • To keep a service history per vehicle, so we can look after your bike properly
  • To meet legal obligations, such as records for the tax authorities

This website

This website is deliberately simple. There are no tracking cookies, advertising or analytics services on it. All images, video, fonts and scripts load from our own server; your browser makes no connection to third parties.

We do remember your language choice in your own browser (local storage), so you get the right language on your next visit. That preference stays on your device and is never sent to us.

The appointment form

When you submit the appointment form, the details you entered — name, phone number, email address, the service chosen, any preferred date, your bike and your message — go to our own server. It turns them into an email to the Bobs, sent via our email provider Proton Mail.

We keep the request in our mailbox for as long as we need it to help you and, if work follows from it, in your vehicle’s service history. The server itself does not store your request in a database; it keeps only a technical log of when a message was sent, so we can prevent abuse of the form.

Would you rather not use a form? Call us on +31 20 410 1234 or email bob@bobsbikeshop.eu directly.

Special and sensitive data — minors

Our website and services are not intended to collect data about visitors under 16, unless they have permission from a parent or guardian. We cannot however verify a visitor’s age. If you believe we have collected personal data about a minor without that permission, contact us at bob@bobsbikeshop.eu and we will delete it.

How long we keep data

We do not keep your data longer than is necessary for the purposes it was collected for. Financial records are subject to the statutory seven-year retention period. We keep your vehicle’s service history for as long as you are a customer, so we can look up work carried out previously.

Sharing with others

We do not sell your data to third parties and only pass it on where this is necessary to perform our agreement with you or to comply with a legal obligation — our accountant, for instance, or a supplier delivering a part directly. For email we use Proton Mail as a processor.

Automated decision-making

We do not take decisions affecting individuals on the basis of automated processing. For running the business we use ordinary systems such as point-of-sale software, a customer administration and cloud office software; we take appropriate measures to limit the risks involved.

Your rights

You have the right to view, correct or delete your personal data. You may also object to processing, ask us to restrict it, and request that your data be transferred. Send your request to bob@bobsbikeshop.eu; we will respond as soon as we can and within four weeks at the latest.

If you wish to complain about how we handle your data, you can do so with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

Security

We take the protection of your data seriously and take appropriate measures against misuse, loss, unauthorised access and unauthorised alteration. If you believe your data is not properly secured, or there are signs of misuse, contact us at bob@bobsbikeshop.eu.
